FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT TASK- FIRST LINE of INQUIRY - SHARING THE PLANET

First Line of Inquiry- Ways in which ecosystems and environments are interdependent

Formative assessment task for the first line of inquiry under the Transdisciplinary Theme, 'Sharing the Planet' was exciting and informative for the students and teachers as well. The task began in groups and the students developed a collage for the ecosystem assigned to their group. This was done on the display boards outside the classrooms. This included pictures and information on plants, animals, insects, shelter, climate, location of the ecosystem and the adaptations of the plants and animals. Thereafter, individually students explained what would happen if that particular ecosystem underwent the following changes; decreased sunlight, increased sunlight, decreased water, increased water. The 'What if....' strategy was used to complete the task in an effective manner.
